This is my favorite Bakshi film it gets funnier every time I watch it. Hey Good Lookin' - Another film that has never seen a DVD release. Rankin Bass didn't do a whole lot of cel animation, but this was a solid effort and a unique fantasy story. It has a very loyal cult following, but has never been released on DVD, which is unfortunate. The Flight of Dragons - This one is more overlooked than under-rated.
The voice casting is excellent and the songs are catchy. It was still a staple of my childhood movie-watching, however, and I could never bring myself to dislike it. 30, The Lincoln Lawyer, which stars the 52-year-old in a leading role, will no longer be streaming on Netflix. The 2011 movie, based on Michael Connelly 2005s novel of the same name, is one of only two McConaughey flicks currently on Netflix. Quest For Camelot - Now, this one does try to be Disney, and it fails in most respects. Netflix is losing one of its only Matthew McConaughey movies next week.
UNDERRATED ANIME MOVIES MOVIE
The classic movie references and the satirical nature of the whole thing are what keep me hooked, even as an adult. It's not Disney, but it doesn't try to be. It was a huge financial flop, however, and most people seem to have forgotten about it.Ĭats Don't Dance - A childhood favorite. Pristine animation, great story with engaging dialogue and humor, fun characters, and a great message. The Iron Giant - This is easily one of the best animated films of all time. Here are a few that stand out to me, though. I could go on and on about about animated films that I think are under-rated. * The Brave Little Toaster: Do you get the feeling that I like kids' movies that are a little darker than Disney? The story line's been done before to at least some extent, but it's so well executed that it doesn't feel cliché. That, and it's a ton of fun, with fourth-wall gags out the yin-yang and an "attitude" that never seems forced.
He always plays the sarcastic jerk, but always makes it work well. * The Emperor's New Groove: It's got David Spade, who may be one of my favorite "one-note" actors. I'm a sucker for anthro animals in general, but I find that premise even more interesting in how it contrasts with the human world in this story. We also saw the movie and I loved it too. * Secret of NIMH: I loved the story when I read it in grade 5. (Not as much as my favorite animal, otters, but how many animated otters are there?) That, and it's not overly heavy-handed with its environmentalist message. * Fern Gully: What can I say, I love bats. Interesting story and characters, and a bunch of the frenzied, sharp humor that Warner Bros. * Cats Don't Dance: This one got royally snubbed by the animation company going splat after it came out.
